Hi, guys. It's Fatia Johnson, the nurse practitioner over at Gowan Sparkle Medical Spa. So today, we are doing PDL smooth threads. And what's cool about that is that it builds collagen and elastin, and it's gonna help in different areas that we do wanna build collagen and elastin. So on her, a lot of people have these little smile lines. So we're gonna go ahead and place those smooth threads into this area, and then we're gonna go this way too. And we're gonna make a crosshatch so that it builds all that nice collagen elastin back into the tissue of her skin. Those threads, I'm gonna show you now. As we can see, you see that blue kind of spiral thread around there? So that is gonna go into the surface of the skin. Again, it's gonna go in, help produce collagen, elastin, and tighten the skin. So we are gonna place that in here shortly. So always first, we prep the skin, hypochlorous acid. And then I do sometimes have them smile so that we can kinda see where that groove is. Go ahead. Relax. I can still see it. So that is a re another reason why we need to build collagen elastin in that area. We're gonna give her a little poke poke poke. One, two, three. Perfect. We are gonna glide that into the tissue of the skin. How you doing? Good. Good. Perfect. No pain. Good. We're gonna do another. I sometimes like to pull the skin taut. Perfect. Good. I'll come on this side because we have some fair skin taut. K. And then we're gonna cross cutting off the table crosshatching. Crosshatch there. Another way you can measure is you take this and you make sure that the thread is gonna go in all the way. And then when you place the thread in, you wanna make sure you take it all the way down to the ends of that. I need one more. You doing okay? I'm great. Thank you. K. Now we're gonna twist them to release and go ahead and pull them out. Wow. Very simple. Mhmm.

So I'm a nurse practitioner. I do aesthetic treatments every single day, and there are three things I will never do on my own face. Hey, guys. It's Fatiha Johnson, the aesthetic nurse practitioner over at Glow and Sparkle Aesthetics and Medical Spa. Number one, overfilled lips. You know the look I'm talking about. When someone walks in and you can tell from across the room that they've had work done, that's not the goal. Your lips have a natural anatomy. There's a border. There's a structure. There's proportion to your face. When we overfill, we lose all of that. So, yes, I do lip filler all the time, but I'm looking at your face as a whole. Not just pumping products into your lips because you asks for it. Number two, recommending one treatment as the fix for aging changes. The aging process involves a series of changes under the skin that lead to what we see on the skin surface as aging. These changes include thinning of the collagen, stretching of the facial ligaments, shrinkage of facial fat pads, face muscle atrophy, and bone erosion. These changes lead to saggy or droopy skin, hollowing under the eyes and inner face, flattening of the mid face, and saggy skin, deep wrinkles on the face and neck. One treatment like Botox or microneedling does not fix all of these issues. The best approach is a combination of treatments like microneedling, biostimulators, dermal fillers, PDO thread lifts, and neuromodulators, each of which targets different issues leading to a better overall result. And number three, rushing into any treatment without proper imaging and consultation. At Glow and Sparkle Aesthetics and Medical Spa, we do a thorough and detailed consultation to develop a customized treatment plan, and where applicable, we do advanced aesthetic imaging. We look at your skin structure. Your skin quality changes deep to the skin where you actually need support. A comprehensive skin analysis as well as ultrasound assessments provides more information than just looking at the surface. Furthermore, ultrasound guidance of some face treatments ensures precise placement for best results and the avoidance of complications. What works for someone else might not work for you. A customized treatment plan depending on the cause of surface symptoms ensures everyone gets the best results. And I would never let anyone treat my face without that level of care. So that's my philosophy. Settle is the new stunning. We're enhancing what you already have, not changing who you are. If that sounds like your approach too, come see us at Glow and Sparkle Aesthetics and Medical Spa. Let's figure out about all of your goals first, then let's make a customized treatment plan just for you.

I'm turning away business, and here's why. A number of people who come in asking for lip filler don't actually need it. I know that sounds crazy coming from someone who does filler for a living, but hear me out. Someone walks in and says, I want fuller lips, so I look at their lips. And a lot of times, their lips are maybe somewhat full or already full or maybe not full enough. What they're actually dealing with is dryness or dehydration of the lips or fine lines around the mouth. Or they saw someone on Instagram with filler and thought that's what they need too. But if your lips already have good volume and I add filler, sometimes you may look overdone. But on those cases, there are different kind of dermal fillers that we could use in the lips. Now they still do add hydration for wrinkles and bringing back that pink tone to your lips. But overfilling lips and making it not look aesthetically pleasing is not what we do here. So what do I recommend instead? Sometimes it's a good lip hydration treatment like using our needleless hyaluronic acid stimulation treatment or using non volumizing very thin hydrating fillers. Sometimes it's skin care to address the lines around the mouth. Sometimes it's a lip flip with Botox or Xeomin, which relaxes the muscle and makes your upper lip appear fuller without adding volume. And sometimes nothing is needed. I tell them their lips are beautiful as they are. Here's the other thing. Not everyone's lip anatomy is the same. Some people have thin lips naturally, and filler gives them a gorgeous balanced result. But if you already have full lips and we add a way thicker filler, it may look unnatural very fast. So when you come and see us here at Glow and Sparkle, we're not gonna just do what you tell us you want done. We're gonna do what looks the best aesthetically pleasing for you. We're going to assess your face, talk about what you're actually trying to achieve, and give you an honest recommendation. Even if that means we don't make a sale that day, but because our job is to make you look like the best version of yourself, not like everyone else. Come see us at Glow and Sparkle Aesthetics and Medical Spa if you want an honest recommendation, not just with sales.

I had a mom come into the spa, and she was about a year postpartum. She'd been working out, eating well, doing everything she was supposed to do. But her body just wasn't responding the way it used to. Probably right. She had this stubborn pouch of fat on her lower belly that wouldn't go away. And she could feel that her core muscles weren't as strong as they were before baby. She said, I feel like I'm living in someone else's body, and I just want to feel like myself again. Hi, guys. I'm Fatia Johnson, the nurse practitioner over at Glow and Sparkle Aesthetics and Medical Spa. I get that. I get what that mom is feeling. I understand. I've been there. I've had kids because pregnancy changes our bodies in ways that diet and exercise just cannot always fix anymore. Your abdominal wall muscles can separate during pregnancy, and that's called diastasis recti. And sometimes there's just fat in areas that won't budge no matter how many crunches you do. So here's what we did. We started her on Emsculpt Neo. It's a treatment that builds muscle and reduces fat at the same time. The machine uses electromagnetic energy to create intense muscle contractions way more than you could do on your own. And at the same time, it's heating up the fat cells in that area and breaking them down completely. It's not just shrinking the fat cell, it's completely breaking it up or lipolyzing the fat cell, and you just flush it out your body. So this is the importance of Emsculpt Neo. It's gonna make those muscle contractions, which is gonna help build that muscle in the abdominal wall and help tighten and strengthen that core. And then, of course, you're gonna burn that fat. So over the course of a few sessions, she started seeing her core strength come back. Her abs were more defined. That lower belly pouch got smaller, and she said that she felt stronger than she had in years. And the best part, no surgery, no downtime. She could go right back to her life. Now here's what I want to be clear about. Nonsurgical doesn't mean no commitment. We're not. She still had to come in for her full series of treatments, and she kept up with her workouts and nutrition. Again, it's not surgery or liposuction that can suck off the fat instantly where you look tighter and slim quicker, but it's more of a gradual change that a lot of people appreciate because it's gonna build that muscle that liposuction cannot do, and it's gonna slowly break down that fat by 30% and people love it. If you're a mom dealing with post baby body changes that won't budge, you're not alone. We love to chat about your options. No judgment. Just solutions that actually work.

So one of the biggest questions I get is, if I started Botox, what happens if I stop? Hi, guys. My name is Fatia Johnson, and I'm the nurse practitioner over at Glow and Sparkle Aesthetics and Medical Spa. So a lot of people think that if they stop doing Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin, their wrinkles are going to come back worse than before. Like their face is going to rebound and look older than if they never started in the first place. Let me tell you right now, that is not true. Here's what actually happens. Botox or Dysport or Xeomin works by temporarily relaxing the muscle that cause wrinkles when you make facial expressions. So when you get Botox, those muscles can't contract as much and the lines soften or disappear. But Botox doesn't last forever. It wears off over time, usually around three to four months. So if you stop getting Botox or Dysport or Xeomin, the muscle activity just gradually comes back, and your wrinkles will return to what they were before you started. That is it. They don't get worse. They don't multiply. They just go back to baseline. You're not going to wake up one day looking older than you would have if you never have done Botox at all. In fact, some people find that their wrinkles are actually a little better than before because they've had a break from making those repetitive expressions. So there's no dependency. There's no rebound effect. It's just a temporary treatment. And that's actually one of the things I love about Botox ZM under Dysport. You are in control. If you wanna keep doing it, great. If you wanna stop, totally fine. Your face just goes back to normal. No consequences, no damage, nothing scary. So if you've been thinking about trying Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin, but you're worried about what happens if you stop, don't be. It's not a lifetime commitment. It's just a tool you can use when you want to.

So I had a patient come in, and she was frustrated. She said people were constantly asking her if she was okay, if she was mad, if something was wrong. And she's like, I'm fine. This is just my face. Classic RBF. Right? Resting face that reads as angry or tired when you're actually perfectly content? And she assumed the fix was Botox, which makes sense because that's what most people think of first when they think of Botox. But when I looked at her face, Botox wasn't necessarily the only issue. Her eyebrows were fine. Her forehead was fine. There was no tension there. The problem was the corners of her mouth were turning down slightly. And that tiny downward angle at the mouth, it changes your entire expression. So instead of doing Botox, we did a very small amount of filler in the corners of her mouth. Just enough to give a subtle lift so her mouth sits in a more neutral or slightly upward position. But, yes, you can do a little Botox there too. And so we also added a little bit of Botox in the DAO muscle, right around here, the depressor angular oris muscle. And so that will also help lift up the corner of the mouth as well. So we did a combination of both some filler and some Botox. And the result, she looked softer, more approachable, but still completely like herself. No frozen face, no overdone look, just a small adjustment that made a huge difference. Here's what I want you to understand. Not every concern is solved with Botox alone. Sometimes it's about the volume. Sometimes it's about placement. Sometimes it's about understanding the facial anatomy. If someone's telling you that they look tired all the time and you're sleeping fine, there's usually a reason. Maybe it's hollowness under the eyes. Maybe it's the mouth corners. Maybe it's something else entirely. You shouldn't have to walk around wondering why people think you're mad when you're not. If this sounds familiar, send us a message, and let's figure out what's actually going on and what we recommend as the best treatment for you.

Your skin care routine used to work great, but now nothing's happening. Your skin looks dull, fine lines aren't improving, and you're wondering what has changed. Here's what's actually going on. After the age of 35, your collagen production drops, your cellular turnover slows down, and your hormonal shifts affect your skin. Platedproducts that worked in your twenties and your early thirties aren't strong enough anymore. Most of those over the counter products have lower concentrations of those active ingredients. They're designed to be gentle for everyone, which means they can't penetrate deeply enough into the skin. Medical grade skincare, like ZO, Revision, or Plated, have higher concentrations of those actives, like retinol, vitamin C, and growth factors. They're formulated to penetrate and create change at the cellular level. But it's not just about buying stronger products. It's about using the right combination for your specific skin. If you have hyperpigmentation, you need certain actives. If it's loss of firmness, you need different ones. This is why a proper skin care consultation matters. We look at your skin, talk about your concerns, and build a routine that actually works for where you are now. If your skin care routine isn't working anymore, it is time for upgrade. I sometimes turn away some clients seeking under eye filler. And I know that sounds crazy because it's actually one of the most requested treatments that we have, but here is why. Hey, guys. I'm Fatia Johnson, the nurse practitioner over at Glow and Sparkle Aesthetics and Medical Spa. So under eye filler is great if you have true hollowness, if there is volume loss that is creating shadows. But if you have puffiness or bags and you add filler incorrectly, it may worsen the appearance by adding volume to areas that are already really full. Now, that is going to make the under eyes look worse. So, when someone comes in asking for under eye filler, I always assess them first. Now don't get me wrong. Some people may have baggy eyes, and filler, if it's placed correctly, may improve the appearance by masking those baggy eyes. On assessment, we look at, do they have hollowness, or do they have bags? Is it an issue with the value lost, or is it a issue with skin quality or something happening in another part of the face? Sometimes the solution isn't placing filler under the eyes at all. Sometimes it's maybe doing some skin tightening to address those bags. Sometimes it's adding volume in the mid face, which helps lifts everything and reduces the shadow. And sometimes the under eye area is actually fine, and we don't necessarily need to do anything there. I'd rather tell you that you don't need this and save you money than do a treatment that gives you a poor or bad result. If you are thinking about getting under eye filler, come in for an honest evaluation today at Glow and Sparkle Aesthetics and Medical Spa.

I had a client come in recently, and she said something that stuck with me. She said, I've been hiding my hands in photos for the past year. She has spent so much time and money on her face, you know, skin care, Botox, dermal fillers, all of it, but her hands were giving away her age. The veins were prominent, the skin was crepey, and the sunspots were now showing up. And she was catching herself taking her hands and tucking them behind her back when they were taking photos, keeping them out of frame. So guess what? We talked to her about exactly what we can do to help with her hands. We use dermal filler to help add volume back into our hands. This helps smooth out kind of that creepiness in the hands and the texture and makes even the veins less prominent. Then we did laser treatments to help with all of the brown spots or the sun spots that people get on the hand, and that helped improve not only the color, but the overall skin quality. It took a few weeks to see the full results, but when she came back for her follow-up visit, she was so happy. She said, I didn't even realize how this was bothering me until I didn't have to think about it anymore. And here is what I want you to understand. Hands age faster than your face. Our hands are constantly exposed to the sun, water, hand soaps, and we forget to take care of them, but they are one of the first things that people notice that starts to age. You can have a beautifully treated face, but if your hands look a little older, it can show. If you're catching yourself hiding your hands in pictures, you are not alone. We'd love to talk to you about what we can do for your hands. It's one of those procedures where people really wish they would have done it much sooner. The number one treatment my postpartum clients asked for, is it about losing the baby weight or maybe improving the stretch marks? It's about pelvic floor weakness. After pregnancy and childbirth, your pelvic floor muscle can weaken significantly. This causes bladder control issues like leaking when you sneeze, laugh, cough, or exercise. It affects intimate wellness and confidence. And it's one of those things women deal with quietly because they're embarrassed to bring it up. But this is completely normal, and it is treatable. We use a treatment called Emcela. Hi, guys. It's Fatiya Johnson, the nurse practitioner over at Glow and Sparkle Aesthetics and Medical Spa. So, Emcela, what is it? It is a chair that you sit on fully clothed. It use electromagnetic energy to stimulate these pelvic floor contractions that you feel down below. It's like doing thousands of Kegel exercises in one session, but you don't have to do anything. Over a series of treatments, your pelvic floor gets stronger. Women tell me it changes their quality of life. They're no longer worried about leaking anymore. They feel more confident. And then now they can go back to those activities that they have been avoiding. Not only does it help with that incontinence or that leakage, including the stress incontinence or the urge incontinence or just the frequency, like myself needed to use the restroom several times during the night, but it really helps tone and tighten everything below. So, again, what we love about Emsella is that there is no surgery, no downtime, and it's completely noninvasive. I'm saying this because you need to know that you are not alone. So if you're dealing with this, so many other moms are too, and there is a real solution that actually works. So if this is something that you are struggling with, please make sure to reach out to us. Come on over and call us at Glow and Sparkle Aesthetics and Medical Spa. Bye.

What do you think one of the most requested aesthetic treatment from men is? Botox? Maybe hair restoration? Well, yes. These are also common services men ask for, but, actually, treatment for excessive underarm sweating is a highly requested service. Men come in dealing with sweating through their shirts by 10AM. They're in important meetings, shaking hands, and clients are visibly sweating through their dress shirts when I see them come in. It's affecting their confidence at work and in social situations. They've tried every clinical strength deodorant. Nothing is working. So here is what we do. We inject neurotoxin like Botox or Xeomin into the underarms. It blocks the signal to the sweat glands, so they stop producing as much sweat. The treatment takes about fifteen minutes. Results last about six months. And guys tell me it is life changing. They are not worried about the sweat marks under their armpits anymore on their shirts. They are not carrying extra shirts to work to change into, and that smell that they get from sweat, nonexistent. And yes, ladies, if you're listening, this treatment is also for you. So we also have several women that come to the clinic and get the same procedure done. But today, guys, this session is all about you. Here is what I want you to know. Men do seek aesthetic treatments too. It's not just about vanity. It's about confidence and feeling comfortable in professional situations. So if you are a guy or a girl who is dealing with excessive sweating underneath the arms, or you know someone who is, this is a real solution. And if you're interested in other treatments like hair restoration, skin care, or whatever it is, yes, we see men all of the time. So go ahead and give us a call here at Glow and Sparkle Aesthetics and Medical Spa. We would love to take care of you guys. Thank you for joining me. Your neck is aging faster than it probably should, and it's probably not due to the wrinkles. It's because of this one mistake that everybody makes every single day. Forward head posture. You know, that's right, looking down at your phone, hunching over on the computer, and that constant forward tilt. This is called tech neck, and it's aging your neck faster than anything else. Well, here's what's happening. When your head is constantly tilted forward, it creates these horizontal lines here across your neck from the repeated folding of the skin. It also weakens the muscles in the front of your neck and causes the skin to sag earlier than it naturally would. So even if you're doing everything right with your skincare, if your posture is off, your neck is going to age faster. So what do we do about it? First, it's the behavior fix. Bring your phone up to eye level instead of looking down at it. Adjust your computer screen so that you're looking straight ahead and not down. Do some maybe neck stretches to counteract the tightness from sitting all day. But if the damage is already done and you have those horizontal lines or the neck bands are showing, we can treat those. Botox or Xeomin or Dysport can relax those muscles in the neck bands. Skin tightening treatments like microneedling or lasers can help tighten the skin and improve the texture. Dermal fillers like Radiesse can add and help restore volume, lost tissue, and sagging skin in the neck. And then, of course, proper neck skin care treatments can actually make a huge difference. But here is the key. If you fix your posture and treat the neck at the same time, the results are gonna last longer and look better. If you just treat the problem and don't change the habits, then you're fighting an uphill battle. So check your posture right now. And if your neck is already showing those signs of aging, let's talk about what we can do here at Glow and Sparkle. Thank you, guys. Fatiya Johnson, the nurse practitioner over at Glow and Sparkle. Why I Always Check This One Thing Before Any Filler Treatment
with Fa-tia Johnson.
Thinking about getting dermal fillers in high-risk areas like the nose or glabella? Here's a crucial safety step you shouldn't ignore. Using ultrasound imaging can precisely locate blood vessels in real-time, offering unparalleled safety during your procedure.
Understanding the risksβaccidental filler injection into a blood vessel can cause serious complications, including vascular occlusion, tissue damage, or even blindness. While most providers rely solely on anatomical landmarks, blood vessels can differ from textbook norms.
Ultrasound guidance provides an extra layer of safety, allowing you to see where to inject and what areas to avoid. When it comes to your face, taking this extra step can be the key to a safer procedure.
Ensure you ask your provider if they use ultrasound guidance. It's becoming more common but isn't the standard yet. Don't hesitate to inquire about the safety measures taken during your treatment.

So before I inject filler in high risk areas like the glabella or the nose, there's one thing that I check every single time, and not every provider does this, which honestly surprises me. I use ultrasound imaging to see exactly where the blood vessels are in your face. Here is why that matters. Your face has a network of blood vessels running through it. And if filler accidentally gets injected into a blood vessel, it can block that flow. That is called a vascular occlusion, and it's one of the most serious complications in filler treatments. It can cause tissue damage, skin loss, and in rare cases, even blindness if it happens to be close to one of the vascular areas near the eye. So how do most providers avoid this? They rely on external landmarks, their knowledge of facial anatomy, and injecting in specific zones. And most of the time, that works fine. But here's the thing, everyone's anatomy is slightly different. Blood vessels don't always run exactly where the textbooks say they should be. So when I use ultrasound guidance, I can see exactly where your blood vessels are in real time. I know precisely where to inject and what areas to avoid. It's an extra step. It takes a little bit more time, but it's why we've had zero vascular complications in high risk areas when using ultrasound guidance. And when we're talking about your face, that extra level of safety is worth it. So if you are getting dermal filler in those high risk areas like the nose or the glabella or maybe even sometimes the temple area, ask your provider if they use ultrasound guidance. It's becoming more common, but it's not the standard everywhere yet. And if they don't, ask them why. You deserve to know that every precaution is being taken.

What Your Forehead Lines Are Actually Telling You
with Fa-tia Johnson.
Forehead lines can say a lot more than you think. Discover what those lines mean about your facial muscle movement and how they affect you daily. From expressiveness to stress, each pattern tells a story.
Horizontal lines may indicate frequent eyebrow raising due to expressiveness or compensating for heavy eyelids, while vertical lines often result from concentration or stress. Understanding these underlying causes is vital for choosing the right treatment.
At Glow and Sparkle Aesthetics and Medical Spa, we emphasize proper assessment to achieve the most effective and natural results tailored to you. Join Fatiya Johnson as she explains why understanding what's beneath matters just as much as what's on the surface.

Your forehead lines aren't just wrinkles. They're actually giving you information. Let me explain what I mean. When I look at someone's forehead lines, I'm not just seeing the wrinkles. I'm seeing a map of how their muscles actually move. Horizontal lines across your forehead? Well, that's from raising your eyebrows repeatedly. Maybe you're super expressive, maybe you're surprised a lot, or maybe you're actually compensating for those heavy upper eyelids by lifting up your eyebrows to keep your eyes open. Vertical lines in between your eyebrows, that's from concentrating or squinting or even stress. People who furrow their brow when they're thinking or working get these. And the depth and pattern of the lines tell me how strong those muscles are and how much you are using them. So why does this matter? Because the treatment approach depends on the cause and not just the lines themselves. If you have deep horizontal lines because you're lifting up your brows to compensate for heavy lids, just doing Botox in the forehead might make your eyes feel heavier. We might need to address the lids too or adjust the Botox placement. If your lemons are from stress and tension, we're treating those muscles differently than someone who squints because they need glasses. This is why proper assessment matters. I'm not just looking at what's on the surface. I'm figuring out what is happening beneath. And when we understand the why, we get better, more natural results. This is Fatiya Johnson, the nurse practitioner over at Glow and Sparkle Aesthetics and Medical Spa. And if you are bothered by your forehead lines, come in so that we can take a look at your specific patterns and figure out the best approach for you.

So here's something that people sometimes don't really understand. If you come in wanting lip filler, I may not do the procedure on your first visit. And I know that might sound frustrating, but here's why. Lips are one of the most visible features on your face. If we get it wrong, everyone sees it. So before I inject anything, I need to make sure that we're completely aligned on what you want, what's actually achievable, and you do not have any reasons not to do the procedure. On the first visit, we sit down, we look at your lips, we look at any photos that you may have brought in, and we talk about your goals. I assess your natural lip anatomy. Your proportions was going to look good on your face specifically. And I'm also looking for any of those red flags, like lip filler migration, any cold sores on the mouth or the lips, any active infection, or maybe someone that's on some blood thinners, or having a special event coming up pretty soon. If you've had lip filler before and have some dermal filler migration, sometimes we will often need to dissolve that migration before we actually refill. If you have any cold sores or active infection, it is not safe to inject filler until these resolve. Blood thinners increase the risk of severe bruising or even possibly forming a hematoma. If you have a special event in that week, doing filler is not advised until maybe after the event due to swelling and bruising. Needleless hyaluronic acid treatment in the lips that rebuilds the collagen and elastin provides a plump in the lip by 224% is an alternative treatment to do for the lips if there is a special event and you do want that plump, but do not want needles or downtime, bruising, or swelling. Lip filler last month. And if you regret it, we can dissolve it, but that's more time, that's more money, that's more stress. I'd rather take that extra time upfront to make sure we're on the same page. So we do a consultation first. We walk through everything, and if our goals are aligned and there are no red flags, then we can proceed the same day. But if you would like to think about what we were talking about during the consultation, including if we had to dissolve some old migrated dermal filler above the lip or if there was a red flag like an infection or cold sore, then we can always reschedule that appointment at a different date. That gives you time to think about what all that you are wanting with your lip procedure. Also, maybe those red flags can heal like a cold sore or infection or if there is an event that you need to go to, and it gives you more confidence, us, more confidence that we are gonna get the best result and that you are happy with everything for your lip procedure. Because my goal isn't to just do the treatment. It's to make sure that you love your outcome and you love your lips. What I Learned From My Worst Aesthetic Mistake
with Fa-tia Johnson.
In the world of dermal fillers, more isn't always better. I, Fatia Johnson, learned the importance of going slow and steady, providing clients with results that enhance, not overwhelm. When a client came from out of town seeking a complete facial transformation, I learned the hard way that patience matters more than perfection in one visit.
Mistakes I made taught me valuable lessons: start with a conservative approach, communicate effectively with your client, and ensure sessions are staggered to allow for gradual enhancement.
Discover why 'less is more' can be a game-changer for achieving natural and balanced facial aesthetics. Let's prioritize subtle improvements that make you feel like the best version of yourself, never overdone.
Join me at Glow and Sparkle Aesthetics & Medical Spa to explore how we can work together toward your aesthetic goals.

I'm going to be honest, with you about something that is hard to admit. I've made mistakes of my career, and I want to tell you about one of them. Early on when I was building my practice, I had a client who came in from out of town that wanted a lot of filler all over her face. She wanted as many syringes as I could do that day. She had multiple areas, that she was concerned about, and I tried to address everything in one session. I added filler to her cheeks, underneath her eyes, her nasolabial folds, in her piriform fossa, right in the nose area. We did chin, jawline, again, lips. We did a little bit, in the temple area, and we did even in the smile lines, trying to give her the complete transformation that she was asking for. And when we were done, she looked so good on paper. Everything was technically placed correctly. But, you know what? After we did all those syringes of filler, she just felt like she didn't look like herself anymore. Again, because we did a lot of filler and syringes of filler in different places on her face. She felt like she looked overdone, and I could see it in her face when she looked in the mirror. She was polite about it because she had asked for it because she did come from out of town, and she wanted all these areas fixed and treated. And she wanted these different dermal fillers, but we both knew maybe we just made a mistake. So, yes, we ended up dissolving some of the filler, not all of the filler, and started over with a much more conservative approach. Here's what I learned from that experience. Less is always more, especially in the beginning. You can always add more filler in a follow-up session, but you can't easily take that away. But we can with the dissolver like Hylinex that will dissolve fillers, so we do have that capability. But why do that? Just focus on the now and doing things correctly. Patience matters more than perfection in one visit. Now when someone comes in wanting multiple areas treated, we create a plan that builds gradually over time. And there's nothing wrong with facial balancing, which I love, you know, adding filler to multiple areas of the face. But sometimes, if you add just too much filler, yes, someone can look overdone or not themselves. So it's a very key to recommend certain fillers in certain areas, and then, yes, they can always come back to add more. We can do a couple areas first and then let them heal. See how they feel about the areas that they got injected, the results over a little bit of time, and then add more if needed. Because at the end of the day, the goal isn't to give you, oh my gosh, everything that you ask for because sometimes maybe a client may not know what is the best treatment or how much filler, yes, they should actually get in one setting. It's to make you look like the best version of yourself. Not to look like someone else, not overdone, just you with subtle enhancement. So if you come to see us, I suggest we go slower than you might expect, and this is why. I've learned these lessons, and I'd rather take my time and get it right than rush and regret it. Guys, this is Fatia Johnson, the nurse practitioner over at Glow and Sparkle Aesthetics and Medical Spa. Yes. Come and check us out. Try dermal filler. It is a great treatment. Yes. We love doing full facial balancing with dermal filler, but, yes, you can always add more over time than to do so many syringes at one time. Now there's nothing wrong with doing multiple syringes again, but you wanna make sure that it is in the right place, done safely, done correctly. Again, that both you and the client collaborate together, and it is exactly what you guys want. Thank you so much for listening.

Why Some People's Botox Lasts Longer Than Others
with Fa-tia Johnson.
Ever wondered why two people can receive the same Botox treatment but get different results?
The longevity of Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin can vary based on your metabolism, muscle strength, and lifestyle choices. Faster metabolisms process these treatments quicker, while intense workouts and excessive heat exposure can also speed up their breakdown.
Curious about improving the longevity of your results? Consider zinc supplements, avoid intense heat right after treatment, and maintain a regular schedule to prevent starting from scratch. These tips can help you maximize the effects of your neuromodulator treatments.
Join Fatia Johnson at Glow and Sparkle Aesthetics and Medical Spa to discuss how we can tailor your treatment to your metabolism and ensure effective results.

So here's something that frustrates people all of the time. Two people get the same Botox treatment, same dose, same areas. One person's results last three months, and the other person's results last six months. So they're asking, what's the difference? What's happening? What am I doing wrong? Here's what's actually happening. Your metabolism plays a huge role in how quickly your Botox or Dysport or Xeomin treatments actually break down in your system. If you have a faster metabolism, your body actually processes the Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin even faster. The strength of your muscles also do matter as well. If you have very strong facial muscles, they can start overpowering the Botox sooner than someone that has weaker muscles in that same area, and your lifestyle affects it too. If you're doing intense workouts constantly, that increases your metabolism as well and can actually lead to that Botox or Xeomin or Dysport breaking down even quicker than someone that doesn't work out. Excessive sun exposure and heat can also break it down more quickly as well. So exactly what can we actually control? Some people take zinc supplements, which some studies show that that might can help your Botox last a little bit longer. Avoiding excessive heat right after your treatment like saunas or really hot workouts for the first twenty four hours can also help, and sticking to a consistent maintenance schedule for your neuromodulator can help as well. If you wait until your Botox is completely gone every time, those lines deepen again and you're starting from scratch. But if you come back before it wears off completely, you maintain those results more easily. So if your Botox, Xeomin, or Dysport doesn't last as someone else's, it's not that you got a bad treatment. It's just how your body processes it. This is Fatia Johnson, the nurse practitioner over at Glow and Sparkle Aesthetics and Medical Spa. Talk to us about your time line that you want for your neuromodulator treatment, if it's Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin, and we can adjust your maintenance schedule to work with your metabolism. Thanks, guys.

What I Tell My Clients About "Preventative Botox"
with Fa-tia Johnson.
Preventative Botox is a buzzword in aesthetics β but how do you know when it's right for you? Join us at Glow and Sparkle Aesthetics as Fatiha Johnson, a skilled nurse practitioner, unravels the secrets!
Understand that the age to begin Botox is not set in stone. What matters is the presence of static lines on your face. If expressions like frowning or raising your eyebrows leave lines even at rest, it might be time to consider Botox. For those in their mid-twenties, skincare remains the focus, but as you approach your late twenties or have a family history of deep lines, preventative steps might prove beneficial.
Timing is crucial - starting too early could lead to unnecessary expenditure, while starting later after static lines appear helps keep your skin smooth.

So preventable Botox. It is a hot topic right now. I get a lot of young clients in their mid twenties, early thirties asking if they should start Botox before they have any wrinkles. And here's what I tell them. It's not about your age, but it's about what's happening on your face. Botox or Xeomin or Dysport is a neuromodulator, and how it works is by relaxing those muscles that creates lines when you make facial expressions or movements. So the question isn't, am I old enough? It's, are my expressions creating lines that are staying on my skin at rest? If you're 25 years old and you have no lines when your face is relaxed, you probably don't need Botox yet. Focus on good skin care. Focus on good SPF, retinols, building a solid foundation. But if maybe you're around 28 years old and you're noticing that when maybe you raise up your eyebrows or you furrow or those inside of your brows or eyebrows or make the mean face and those lines are starting to stick around even when your face is at rest, also, we call those static lines, then that's when preventative Botox makes sense. Or maybe if you have a strong family history of deep forehead lines or maybe, again, those 11 lines in between your eyebrows, starting earlier can help prevent those lines from getting deeper than they would otherwise. The idea is that if you relax those muscles before those lines are etched into the skin, they never get a chance to become permanent. But starting too early, when there's no movement creating lines yet, yeah, you're just spending money. You don't need to spend yet. So the honest answer is it depends on you. Come in for an assessment, and we'll look at your face at rest and in motion, and we'll tell you honestly if you're ready or if you should wait. It's not about selling you Botox, Xeomin, or Dysport. It's about timing it right for your face personally. Thanks, guys, for listening. It's Fatiha Johnson, the nurse practitioner over at Glow and Sparkle Aesthetics and Medical Spa. Love y'all. Bye.
