Hi, guys. It's Fatia Johnson, the nurse practitioner over at Gowan Sparkle Medical Spa. So today, we are doing PDL smooth threads. And what's cool about that is that it builds collagen and elastin, and it's gonna help in different areas that we do wanna build collagen and elastin. So on her, a lot of people have these little smile lines. So we're gonna go ahead and place those smooth threads into this area, and then we're gonna go this way too. And we're gonna make a crosshatch so that it builds all that nice collagen elastin back into the tissue of her skin. Those threads, I'm gonna show you now. As we can see, you see that blue kind of spiral thread around there? So that is gonna go into the surface of the skin. Again, it's gonna go in, help produce collagen, elastin, and tighten the skin. So we are gonna place that in here shortly. So always first, we prep the skin, hypochlorous acid. And then I do sometimes have them smile so that we can kinda see where that groove is. Go ahead. Relax. I can still see it. So that is a re another reason why we need to build collagen elastin in that area. We're gonna give her a little poke poke poke. One, two, three. Perfect. We are gonna glide that into the tissue of the skin. How you doing? Good. Good. Perfect. No pain. Good. We're gonna do another. I sometimes like to pull the skin taut. Perfect. Good. I'll come on this side because we have some fair skin taut. K. And then we're gonna cross cutting off the table crosshatching. Crosshatch there. Another way you can measure is you take this and you make sure that the thread is gonna go in all the way. And then when you place the thread in, you wanna make sure you take it all the way down to the ends of that. I need one more. You doing okay? I'm great. Thank you. K. Now we're gonna twist them to release and go ahead and pull them out. Wow. Very simple. Mhmm.

I'm turning away business, and here's why. A number of people who come in asking for lip filler don't actually need it. I know that sounds crazy coming from someone who does filler for a living, but hear me out. Someone walks in and says, I want fuller lips, so I look at their lips. And a lot of times, their lips are maybe somewhat full or already full or maybe not full enough. What they're actually dealing with is dryness or dehydration of the lips or fine lines around the mouth. Or they saw someone on Instagram with filler and thought that's what they need too. But if your lips already have good volume and I add filler, sometimes you may look overdone. But on those cases, there are different kind of dermal fillers that we could use in the lips. Now they still do add hydration for wrinkles and bringing back that pink tone to your lips. But overfilling lips and making it not look aesthetically pleasing is not what we do here. So what do I recommend instead? Sometimes it's a good lip hydration treatment like using our needleless hyaluronic acid stimulation treatment or using non volumizing very thin hydrating fillers. Sometimes it's skin care to address the lines around the mouth. Sometimes it's a lip flip with Botox or Xeomin, which relaxes the muscle and makes your upper lip appear fuller without adding volume. And sometimes nothing is needed. I tell them their lips are beautiful as they are. Here's the other thing. Not everyone's lip anatomy is the same. Some people have thin lips naturally, and filler gives them a gorgeous balanced result. But if you already have full lips and we add a way thicker filler, it may look unnatural very fast.
